We previously featured The Project for their transportive debut single, Best Days, so when we learnt that the enigmatic outfit was back with What’s It Going To Take, featuring Mykele Hill, we were curious, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Energizing us with a meditative frequency and glistening, astral guitar riffs, The Project open What’s It Going To Take with a passionate vocal and situational, yet metaphorical prose.
Choral vocal hooks guide us with an Aerosmith-adjacent energy, demonstrating nothing short of instrumental mastery and iconic, anthemic gold. We are captivated by the lead vocal performance and the depth of the energy that comes with The Project‘s emotion.
The guitar laden soundscape is luxurious and timeless, with a stunning guitar solo and harmonic presence of rising artist Mykele Hill. The psychedelic nuances add value to the composition and the final chorus is simply transcendental with an elegant and textured finale.
Speaking on her presence on the track, Mykele confesses, “It was a great experience for me because The Project is a little heavier than anything I had sang on before but the blend of the two styles really worked well together.”
