It is no surprise that we couldn’t wait to hear the first release of 2024 by Love Ghost, so as soon as we saw that Angelic was out, we were ready to immerse ourselves in superstar Finnegan Bell‘s reality.
Drawing us in with intimate guitar arpeggios and an astral frequency, Finnegan Bell opens Angelic with atmospheric and introspective prose as he sings, “This is the last time I will tell you all the unsaid words in my head, every time that I open my heart to you, it just ends in regret, but I don’t care cos this is all I know how to do, yeah it’ll hurt but we’re passed the point of open wounds…”. The opus expands with strummed acoustic guitar performance and keys, as the Love Ghost frontman shares his soul, singing the super profound words, “Love will kill me if I let it…”
We appreciate the cosmic nuances, and the stripped back nature of the composition, which allows us to co-exist within the intimacy of the track and Finnegan‘s perspective on his muse and unrequited love.
The message is relatable – a place we have all been at some point in our romantic existence, and the timeless manner in which Love Ghost brings this to life feels authentic and cathartic. Kudos.
Finnegan confesses that the stripped-down ballad is designed “in the vein of XXXtentacion‘s Joselyn Flores and the Smashing Pumpkins‘ Luna“, two references that we absolutely adore, but there is no doubt that it is Finnegan’s raw and authentic universe that we are experiencing.
The dreamy and elegant accompanying music video for Angelic is shot by Keith Coleman, and we are in awe, as always. We have added Angelic to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Love Ghost‘s exquisite discography, and epic music videos!
