Setting the tone with a cerebral and psychedelic synth with fierce drums and evocative prose, switching into an ethereal pre-chorus with a charming pop hook, Madam Who? opens Peter Meter with dimensionality and intrigue.
The star continues with her spoken word rap verses full of situational nuance and tangible wisdom. We immediately connect with the philosophical depth, poetic prowess and charismatic charm that Madam Who? exudes.
Speaking on the journey of getting to this point, the rising artist from Pittsville confesses, “This song took me [over] 20 years to finish and is well worth the wait.” Madam Who? elaborates, “It is the advice my grandmother gave the younger me on how to keep a man. It’s a fun and quirky tune. A crowd pleaser if there ever was one.”
We learn that Madam Who? is dubbed “GenZ’s cool aunt”, she is a humanist, and genre- fluid music artist who’s “been through the wringer and came out writing anthems for underdogs.”
Her intentional brand of songwriting is something we connect with, and as we believe it is one’s human right to be a popstar, there is nothing more that we appreciate than someone creating so authentically, and with evident purpose.
Madam Who? tells us how she decided she wanted to be a Beatle when she watched The Complete Beatles documentary on PBS with her mother. Having been taught the piano at home, she realised she couldn’t be a Beatle unless she learned to play the guitar. The talented creator then went on to study Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville and has received critical acclaim for her work, as well as performing at a number of iconic events.
The star’s life has been eventful with its fair share of challenges. Speaking on her intentional nature and following some existential experiences, Madam Who? says, “I want to be a beacon of light and hope for all people who have suffered abuse and [have] been convinced they are worthless, and to encourage them to find their inner strength and love themselves. You do you.”
She adds, “I would also like to inspire people of all ages – but especially women- of-a-certain-age – to follow their hearts and dreams no matter what life throws at you. Adapt and carry-on to overcome.”
We love what Madam Who? stands for and what is creating with her sonic and visual universe, and we have added Peter Meter to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her wider discography, including You Are Not Alone, and Reclaim Your Power.
