Setting the tone with a timeless electric guitar riff and high octane drums, expanding into a fierce and dimensional, heavy rock meets hard trip-hop adjacent soundscape, indifferentMonKeY open Scream with subversion and intentional depth with the introspective question, “Are you really gonna save me?”
The lyricism feels zeitgeist, akin to a message from a higher power with reference to our current reality. Speaking on the message of Scream, the band confess, “The single is clearly an anti-war song, inspired by the madness that started firstly in Ukraine and then the Middle East.”
We appreciate the medium of art as activism, and learn that the enigmatic indifferentMonKeY also debuted their new singer, Ellie Knowles. Elaborating on the union, indifferentMonKeY tell us, “Ellie fits our music perfectly and we now feel we have moved up a few notches. We did our first gig with Ellie just the other day and we’ve never felt so good.”
The composition demonstrates passion in it’s immersive nature with nuanced ebbs and flows, spoken word rap moments and sonic design moments to keep us enthralled. Ellie’s performance is not only captivating, but feels authentic to the wider message of the song. Kudos.
We can only imagine how epic it would be to experience this live, so just as well that the elusive rising band has a mini London tour coming up, they say, “If you live in or near London, we will be playing the Bedford in Balham on the 25th Jan and TAM, inside the Mercato Metropolitano (Elephant and Castle) on the 26th Jan!”
Naturally, we have added indifferentMonKeY‘s Scream to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and also our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whist we continue to stream their wider discography, including the various re-imaginations of Go Supersonic!
