Setting the tone with textured percussion, astral tones, and cosmic frequencies with intricate melodic nuances, Brass Tyrannosaurus open Paleologic with intrigue and dimensionality.
Seductive horns take us on an elegant and dynamic journey with jazz adjacent drum work – needless to say, we are wholly captivated. The opus showcases drama and emotional depth, bringing to life a more ethereal side to what one might expect from a brass band.
The composition feels transportive, manifesting a world where the past and the future collide in a symphony of bright, brass brilliance. Paleologic is spellbinding, and the arrangement effortlessly blends a contemporary vibe with the timeless charm of the iconic wind instruments, creating a unique and mesmerizing sonic landscape that feels both familiar and groundbreaking.
It is as if the music itself has the power to bend time, taking us on a journey through history to the future in a single breathtaking performance. One aspect that truly stands out is the tangible instrumental mastery displayed by the creators. Their precision, passion, and unity are nothing short of awe-inspiring.
Paleologic is the first single by the New Orleans based brass band fusion project. We learn that after four years of performing and honing their sound, the self produced release is intended to present a “moody, polished, studio sound” – clearly distinct from the usual New Orleans brass sound.
The goal of the 8-piece band is to combine the energy of live performances, which are common in the city, with a studio-oriented final product that attracts listeners from a wider demographic. This has certainly been achieved, giving a new lease of life to the sonic frequency of the wind instruments.
We love what Brass Tyrannosaurus are creating, and have added Paleologic to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we anticipate future compositions from the visionary band.
