As a vegan future looms, with AI predicting us all to be vegan by 2075, a brand new Netflix documentary You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment shows us how powerful a healthy and conscious diet can be.
Chronicling the recent Stanford University study of identical twins, the series follows twin pairs: one of whom was put on a vegan, or plant-based, diet (free of animal abuse e.g. meat, seafood, eggs, and dairy), while the other ate an omnivore diet (including plants, meat, and animal products). The study found that, after only eight weeks, the twins eating the plant-based diet experienced: an increase in their life expectancy; reduced visceral fat (the dangerous fat that accumulates around your organs); reduced risk of heart disease; and even a heightened sexual drive. The results surprised even the Stanford research team.
“For me, plant-based eating is the direction to go,” said one of the twins in the series, commenting on whether this will change their behaviours afterward.
The results were published November 30 in JAMA Network Open. “The findings from this trial suggest that a healthy plant-based diet offers a significant protective cardiometabolic advantage compared with a healthy omnivorous diet,” the authors concluded, unsurprisingly.
From our perspective and theories of the universe and love energy, it is clear that a consumption pattern based in non-violence is optimal for human beings. It is already common knowledge that diets loaded with meat and animal abuse manifest badly on human beings, so here is to a plant-based future!
A reminder that no one is free until the animals are free, speciesism is the root of all oppression, animals deserve love and freedom.
