Setting the tone with an enigmatic synthscape, dynamic bassline, textured percussion and a phenomenal guitar solo, Good Time Locomotive opens Devils & Angels with choral and evocative vocals with an accompanying organ synth and luscious harmonies.
We immediately connect with the dramatic flair that singer Hugo Leite exudes, and the dimensional nature of the opus as well as the smart and philosophical lyricism. The emerging presence of the piano accompanied with Good Time Locomotive‘s ethereal vocals is simply transcendental, creating a cohesive tapestry of sound with instrumental and compositional mastery.
Speaking on the intention of the release, the talented duo tell us, “Devils & Angels is an emotional roller coaster ride all about how we all need a guardian angel to help us navigate through this life sometimes, and how it helpless you can feel trying to help someone whose Devil is often louder than their Angel.”
As if it wasn’t enough, we experience yet another magnetic solo leading us to a poetic and atmospheric finale, performed with intricacy and authenticity, and leaving us yearning for so much more.
Devils & Angels comes with a cinematic music video, featuring captivating performances from Hugo and his muse, taking us on a cerebral and thought-provoking adventure in a church setting. We appreciate the camera work and Hugo’s charisma.
Hugo further explains the motivation behind the track, “Devils & Angels is about how hard it is for some people to face their darker side and follow the better angels of their nature, except it is from the perspective of someone who wants what’s best for them, even if they are too broken to see it for themselves.”
We love what Good Time Locomotive have to share, and have added Devils & Angels to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream their exquisite wider discography, including The Dark Within, and Step into the Light.
