The journey of self-discovery is one many thousands of people take each year. Those who feel lost in the busyness of life, who have found themselves somewhere they didn’t expect it neid up or are simply seeking something that can’t quite put their finger on often embark on a journey of self-discovery to help them uncover who they are and who they want to be.
But this doesn’t mean you need to fill a backpack and go off travelling, that is, unless you want to or start to live entirely off the grid; again, it is a personal choice. If this suits you, you can embark on a journey of self-discovery while leaving your current life.
What Is Your Ideal Life?
If you aren’t living your ideal life, why not know what is holding you back? Knowing that your perfect life looks like what you need to do to achieve it and where to go from here can allow you to find your starting place and map your journey from here to where you want to be. Create a timeline of where you want to be in 1, 3, 5 or even 10 years from now and look at what it will take to get there.
What Do You Enjoy?
Changing your life and being your best self is often about removing many things from life or making changes, but you also need to focus on what makes you happy, too, so you can retain these elements despite the other changes you want to make. Often, the things we enjoy doing open doors to new paths in our lives and can be instrumental in supporting us as we create a new life for ourselves and uncover who we are and who we want to be.
Try Something New
Trying new things is an excellent way to push your boundaries and explore who you are and what you are capable of. You never know how you will feel about different situations if you don’t try them. From getting email psychic readings to being hypnotised, from doing something that scares you to ticking off a bucket list item, be as creative and varied as possible to test yourself and find your limits.
Create Your Values
What matters to you as a person? What values do you want to see in yourself, and how do you want to behave? Use this as a measure for helping you to become more authentic. But if something doesn’t feel right or leaves you uneasy, you can easily change the goalposts until you find that happy medium that gives you what you need. You can also use these values to create a close circle and remove those from your life who aren’t supportive of what you are trying to do or are bringing a toxic presence to your life.
Keep A Journal
The path to self-love isn’t quick or easy, and you will likely experience any changes along the way. It’s a good idea to keep a journal so you can track the changes and experiences you are having and give yourself something to refer back to when needed. Write everything down: what you are doing, how you feel, and any changes you like or don’t like to help you build a better picture of yourself and your life.
Self-discovery can be instrumental in helping you to live a more authentic life and explore what you are capable of and what you want from life. Enjoy the journey, don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t lose sight of your goals.
