One of the first songs that we ever experienced from the talented Gary Dranow was the original version of Destiny Road. The track is a masterclass in music production and songwriting, and turned us into long term fans of the artist.
When we heard that the visionary creator had also released a re-working of Destiny Road, we were curious and couldn’t wait to listen with fresh ears, but also a referential perspective.
The opus kicks off with a fierce and vivid rock soundscape with an astral guitar solo that showcases the incredible skill that Gary has to offer with his sound and expertise. The core message and narrative of the song remains true to the original but the overall master is vibrant and dynamic with an equally fresh vocal performance from Klim Apalkov. His tone has a more grunge energy reminding us of the late Chris Cornell.
Gary Dranow’s writing on Destiny Road shares a heartfelt reflection on his first love, Janine, capturing the enduring magic of their youthful connection that still resonates with him even after many years. The power of music to preserve memories is beautifully showcased in this song, acting as a time capsule that encapsulates the raw emotions of first love.
Gary’s poignant lyrics, combined with the captivating rhythm and skillful guitar playing, draw the listener into a deeply immersive experience. As the instrumental builds, it evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing, allowing the emotions to swell within the listener.
It turns out that Klim Apalkov is remastering the entire Destiny Road album and he will also be performing vocals on all of the remastered tracks. Gary tells us how we can expect to hear more than thirty new songs starting weekly in January 2024.
As a reminder, Gary Dranow and Chris Zoupa have started an EDM project named Astralix. Their first single, Lost and Found, will drop on December 14, followed quickly by their new album’s title track, The Rhythm Fills My Soul.
