Are you ready for a new 9 o’clock Nasty era? Because we certainly are! When we heard that one of our favourite subversive bands was back with a song titled, Unkle Nature, universally aligned with our very own namesake, we simply had to listen and share our feelings.
Drawing us in with textured drums and an elegant guitar melody, 9 o’clock Nasty open Unkle Nature with intimacy and a refined mood before a subversive bass drop and evocative prose.
Needless to say, we are captivated by the philosophical concepts that 9 o’clock Nasty share with their lyricism. The delivery is as charismatic as ever, demonstrating the trios fervour, passion, social and environmental conscience.
Speaking on the release, the British band pose the question, “Remember when Mother Nature was the nurturing presence for the planet?”
They continue with depth, “Oh how things have changed these past few years. Now Nature arrives at your house stinking of beer and handing out pills and sweets. You know it wants the best for you, but can it be trusted not to kill the whole family?”
“Yes, now we have the wicked uncle with a twinkle in his eye. UNKLE NATUR. We’ve all been very, very naughty, and Unkle Natur is here to make us play. Or pay.”
We appreciate the double entendre of the opus, which sheds light on the current state of the planet, but also social norms with reference to problematic family members.
The band tell us that this is the first taster from the trio’s upcoming album, tentatively titled, WELCOME TO CROWLAND. We absolutely cannot wait to hear the record in full if it is sonically aligned with Unkle Nature.
Speaking on the record, the creators add, “It’s going to punch harder. It may still apologise after, we are not animals. But a punch is a punch. Can we continue to forgive?”
Band mate Ted Pepper adds, “There is no environmental rallying call for the 2020s. Nobody has made a song to express the futility of burning our way to suffocation so someone can live in a bigger house. Well, not until now.”
Pete Brock leaves us with the philosophical thought, “Denial is pointless. Acceptance is everything. Act now and kick to the beat.”
We have added Unkle Natur to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream 9 o’clock Nasty‘s wider discography, and anticipate the release of WELCOME TO CROWLAND!
