Establishing the mood with a cerebral, enigmatic guitar performance and subversive bass riser, Cody Coyote opens There Tonight with a textured beat and situational prose as he shares his soul and spirit with us through the medium of a pristine pop vocal.
The opus expands with evocative sound design, infectious hooks and luscious vocal production to take us on an eye-opening journey as we connect with Cody Coyote and his universe. The star delivers an assertive flow and captivating lyricism. Needless to say, we are in awe.
There Tonight comes with a cinematic music video, directed by Ben Telford Visuals, sharing the story of a woman who is experiencing abuse from a partner and a friend who has been a witness to it. We are fully captivated by the visual and it’s message which raises awareness on domestic abuse, particularly for the indigenous women of Canada.
We learn that Ottawa’s Cody Coyote is of Ojibwe and Irish descent with ancestry from Matachewan First Nation, which explains why he applies his activism to the plight of indigenous Canadian women in particular.
Speaking on the release, the star tells us, “In recent years I had done much reflection and thought about making more of a thought-provoking impact with music videos. I felt that There Tonight would be the perfect song for this and after teaming up with Ben Telford Visuals, Jacqueline Buffalo and Steven Thompson, we were able to achieve that goal while drawing attention to an issue that needs to be spoken about.”
He continues with philosophical depth, “The community work I do is really what drives me and has allowed me to become passionate about initiating positive change in the world today. I want the future generations of this world to ultimately feel empowered and seen.”
Naturally, we have added There Tonight to our New Music Spotlight playlist as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Cody Coyote‘s wider discography, including Hit the Town, and Northern Lights.
