It is no secret that we are massive fans of The Pulltops, having recently featured the intricate and inspiring, Better Life, the enlightened and conscious, Wide Awake, as well as the anthemic and connected single, With You, so when we heard that the band was back with Make Me Smile, we had a feeling that we might be in for a treat.
Kicking off with an arpeggiated guitar melody and nuanced percussion detailing, The Pulltops open Make Me Smile with the introspective prose, “When nothing ever goes my way, you always know just what to say, to ease the pain and wipe the tears away…”
The opus expands into a luscious and dimensional alternative rock soundscape as the band profess their appreciation for their muse who is the one to make them smile.
We absolutely love the relatable and optimistic approach that The Pulltops convey with the release. The message is something we all need to hear, now more than ever.
The creative duo from Milwaukee candidly tell us, “It’s a sweet love song that breaks it down to this simple thought, ‘You will always be the one to make me smile’.”
Sonically, we appreciate the warmth of the acoustic guitar and the stunning strings arrangement which add an emotional, expansive nature to the composition. Needless to say, we are in awe.
We have added Make Me Smile to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream The Pulltops’ wider discography, and anticipate future releases from Mark Pierret and Tom Crowell.
