Establishing the mood with an intricate and dimensional energy featuring an intimate acoustic guitar and playful, astral nuances, Lee Switzer-Woolf opens Ototoxin with intrigue and a sense of awe.
The opus expands with an elegant guitar soundscape as the star shares the evocative and vulnerable prose, “I never should’ve dreamt about you, I swear it won’t happen again, I’m just so tired on this medication, I’m forgetting things…”
We immediately connect with the personal journey that Lee Switzer-Woolf takes us on. His lyricism is relatable and laced with melancholia. The instrumental accompaniment showcases nothing short of musical mastery. We absolutely love the electronica detailing and the textured bassline, creating a cohesive tapestry of sound.
Speaking on the release, Lee confesses, “Ototoxin is a ‘love letter to pain medication’, written when I was suffering with back problems, and was home-recorded in the same sessions as my album, but despite being a favourite it was left aside because thematically and sonically it didn’t fit with the rest.”
We learn that the visionary creator performs and records his compositions entirely by himself, before they are mixed and mastered by his long time collaborator Aden Pearce. This authenticity really shines through on Ototoxin, which is a dynamic and immersive journey.
Naturally, we have added Ototoxin to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Lee Switzer-Woolf‘s sophomore album Annihilation Signals, which was released six months ago, today!
