Astral, rippling keys descend in a syncopated matter with dimensional mids before the high notes return to create a celestial tapestry of sound. Bass chords evoke drama whilst the composer takes us on a layered, and dimensional journey through his visionary mindset, and the universe.
We are fully in awe of the feeling of ascension the composer delivers, before a grand and dramatic bass drop keeps us captivated, coupled with a somewhat meditative, and certainly timeless performance.
The emotive nature of what Leonardo Barilaro, also known as The Space Pianist, creates is tangible, cinematic and dynamic. The opus expands with a sense of melancholia, whilst the pianist showcases one of his best performances in recent recorded history.
After an experimental era, he is returning to show us the foundations of why he is a celebrated and exemplary pianist, so much so that he is the ambassador for piano brand, Zanta Pianoforti.
Speaking on the track, the star tells us, “Chrysalis is a story of resilience, a space music composition that depicts the concept of a chrysalis, a vessel for transformation, through a vivid musical landscape.”
“Imagine a dimly lit stage adorned with a mysterious cocoon, barely discernible in the soft glow. The sounds evoke the cocoon’s nascent awakening”, he continues with depth.
We learn Chrysalis was “recorded on the ethereal ZANTA ZB 200 grand piano, literally a ‘space piano’ for its refined sound and aesthetic qualities.”
We love everything that Leonardo Barilaro creates and cannot wait to learn more about ASTROBEAT, which he confesses is, “the new space mission onboard the International Space Station that I am leading.”
