Setting the tone with an immersive and dimensional soundscape with a sense of warmth and brightness, The Float opens Monkey and Sweet Potato with emotional intricacy and elegance.
The opus expands with a luscious, astral guitar performance and glistening bells to create a transcendental and rather meditative vibe, which has us feeling enlightened and at peace.
A minimalist middle eight rebuilds with dynamism to a holistic and expansive finale, leaving us yearning for more. Speaking on his sonic process, The Float tells us, “I create unique instrumental songs layering electric guitar and keyboards.”
Elaborating on the inspiration for his creative output, The Float confesses, “After a divorce left me seeing my daughters half time, I started writing a song everyday I was not with them. Soon I had over 150 songs which I started releasing a few months back.”
It is known that trauma and change can result in powerful artistry, and Monkey and Sweet Potato is an example of how The Float has channelled his emotions into a cohesive and captivating tapestry of sound, designed to inspire.
We appreciate the intentional manner in which The Float creates, and have added Monkey and Sweet Potato to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream The Float‘s expanding discography.
