At the start of the year, we featured Josh Tepper when he teamed up with Madisyn Shipman on the self-realized and emotive Duet Version of Built Me, so we wanted to revisit the song and experience Josh’s solo version, and naturally, share our feelings.
Built Me opens with a super dimensional pop soundscape and Josh Tepper‘s pristine vocal as he sings, “Knew it was over when you closed the door, you walk away, you become a ghost…“
Josh’s performance is evocative, filled with authenticity and tangible depth, as he reminds us of Justin Bieber with his nuance and energy. As a reminder, the star was raised in New York City, and attended New York City’s prestigious Performing Art High School Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts as a vocal major. He continued his college studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in Cinema Studies.
This comes though vividly in his art and sonic eloquence. We appreciate the mastery that his compositions hold, and the original of Built Me is no exception. As for the song itself, it is clear why Josh is investing the energy in a cappella and duet versions, as the core of Built Me as a track is nothing short of iconic.
Speaking on the theme of the release, Josh confesses, “Built Me is about past relationships, and how they help develop who you are, even after they are over.”
We love the message, his passion and the emotional depth that Josh Tepper conveys with his sound. Naturally, we have added Built Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist. as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist!
