We previously featured Per Ploug for the profound and vulnerable, Left To Bleed, so when we heard that the creator was back with Piece Of My Mind, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with immersive guitar arpeggios and a vintage vocal, the star opens Piece Of My Mind with thought-provoking prose, and a dash of melancholia as he sings, “All the young people, where will they go? What is their future and how will they cope? It’s hard for me to see what they can do…”
We are immediately moved by the concept to the song, the philosophical train of thought from Per Ploug and his expanded consciousness, enlightening us along the way. He sings about power hungry rulers, existentialism, coastal city flooding – the power pop choruses as out of this world as he sings, “My thoughts collide at this moment in time…”
Speaking on the release, Per Ploug confesses, “The song is about some of the worries we may have about life, the universe and everything… and most of us (if not all of us) have many more questions than answers. The questions can be on a global geopolitical level, like climate change or wars, or they can be right down to our own little lives. Life is complicated and it can be hard to find the answers.”
The soundscape is stunning, with astral nuances, and rippling details, which feel universal and somewhat meditative. We learn that it was created in collaboration with Eoin Mulcahy. We can totally envision Piece Of My Mind being performed in a stadium. Per Ploug‘s vocal delivery holds wisdom and a sense of timelessness that we cannot get enough of.
We have added Piece Of My Mind to our New Music Spotlight playlist as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Left To Bleed and Per Ploug‘s wider discography!
