We have been intently following the growth and expansion of Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L over the last year, so when we heard that his highly anticipated EP, Recovery 2 had landed, we couldn’t wait to listen in full and share our feelings.
The record opens with Caution, which set the tone with a luxurious synthscape with arpeggio drops before we experience assertive prose from Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L as he conveys his reality with reference to a romantic connection. The lyricism showcases the star’s fierce delivery, with smart moments and his signature trap adjacent energy. The only downside of the evocative intro track is that it is a mere ninety-one seconds!
Next up is Without Love, which opens with an Eastern vibe with astral melodies and ad libs before Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L sings the hook, demonstrating a cohesive sonic adjacency to the record’s opener. We love the pitched vocal design and the truth and vulnerability that the talented creator demonstrates.
Hit & Run is the final track on the EP, and opens with spoken word introduction, allowing us to connect on a deeper level with Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L as he says, “One thing people are gonna know about me is that I drink Earl Grey in the studio…”
This inspired us to put the kettle on as we continue to listen to the artist’s connected and charming opus. Naturally, Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L‘s sound showcases nothing short of instrumental mastery, and we appreciate the nature of the adventure that he takes us on with the EP.
Speaking on the release, the star confesses, “Recovery 2 is an audio journey meant to represent the feeling of weightlessness associated with shedding a heavy burden, in this case coming out of a stressful relationship and finally officially being over the past. A more mature sound, that only comes after being sad that something ended but finally realizing it’s better to just smile because it happened.”
We certainly appreciate the cathartic vibe that Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L exudes. He continues with reference to the sound, “The instrumentals have a lighter and more airy quality than the predecessor Recovery 1. The lyrics are pretty optimistic and the vocal harmonies are an ode to traditional R&B. Definitely something to be played in the sunlight.”
We have added Hit & Run to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L exquisite, growing discography, and anticipate future releases!
