Establishing the mood an immersive synthscape, VALE opens One Night Only with situational prose and theatrical nuance. We immediately connect with the authenticity that VALE exudes with her vibe, and a sonic landscape which demonstrates nothing short of instrumental mastery.
The opus expands with introspection and a pristine pop energy that we cannot get enough of. VALE‘s poetic prowess is tangible, as she takes us on a journey though her lived experience with her narrative driven brand of storytelling.
We learn that One Night Only centres around “a one night stand turned situationship and all the doubts that accompanied it.” The rising star from London via Geneva cites Maisie Peters and Taylor Swift as influences, which we can feel come through in VALE‘s sound, though it is clear that she is creating a universe of her own.
Speaking on the release, VALE confesses, “I can’t decide whether this is a sad song or a happy song, so I guess it depends on how you interpret it. For me, it’s confusion, love, heartbreak, fun and uncertainty all at once.”
One Night Only is produced with Tom Marlow, who connected with VALE at university and has been collaborating with the star ever since. Naturally, we have added One Night Only to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream VALE’s wider discography, including her debut single, Pathetic, and her sophomore release, Good on My Own.
