We recently featured François Marius as he took us on a trip with the evocative and vibrant single, Ça Roule Rastaman, so when we heard that the visionary creator was back with Rasta Dance (STARRY NIGHT), we were curious, and couldn’t wait to share our experience.
Kicking off with an intricate flow, intelligent and inspiring lyricism, and a ska-punk meets reggae soundscape, François Marius conveys his love for music and reality as we join him on an expansive adventure.
The horns are sublime and we love the choral harmonies which add dimensionality to the already engaging opus. The Canadian reggae musician creates with the intention to keep us “grooving all season long”, and we learn that he Marius used the long winter months to master the keyboard and cuica to bring his sound to life.
François Marius tells us how he draws creative inspiration from musical legends such as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and Stevie Wonder, which we can feel come to life with Rasta Dance (STARRY NIGHT), although there is no doubt that François Marius is creating a unique sound of his own.
We are obsessed with the break down, which inspires us to dance, in line with the purpose of the song. The composition showcases instrumental genius, fused with the star’s creative delivery and unique sonic design. The outro which features mantra-esque repeated prose has us fully in awe, and reaching for the repeat button!
Rasta Dance (STARRY NIGHT) (along with with Van Gogh inspired artwork!) has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream François Marius‘s cohesive and growing discography, and anticipate future releases from the creator!
