Establishing the mood with an intricate, acoustic guitar, Govorukha opens Scissors with an atmospheric and textured vocal performance with introspective prose.
We immediately connect with the timeless nature of the soundscape, and the luscious and expansive timbre that Govorukha performs with. His charisma and poetic prowess are tangible, and the opus expands with raw emotion.
The violin interlude is elegant, and the organic cajon is captivating. We love the dimensionality that Govorukha exhibits, as well as the emotional build of the composition.
Speaking on the message of Scissors, the rising star from Russia, but currently based in Prague, Czech Republic, confesses that the song is about “unconditional support and acceptance for a friend without any judgements [that] resonates universally.”
He continues, “The main inspiration for the song arrangement came from early flatsound works as well as Rise Against’s acoustic album – Ghost Note Symphonies”, which we can appreciate, although there is no doubt that Govorukha is creating a universe of his own, produced, recorded and mixed in his one-bedroom apartment.
We have added Scissors to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Govorukha‘s wider discography by way of his debut EP, takemehome.
