We previously featured The Crystal Teardrop for their thought-provoking and immersive debut single, Nine Times Nine, so when we heard that the talented creators were back with By The River, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with a rising vocal texture, expanding with a vibrant sitar performance and dimensional drums, The Crystal Teardrop open By The River with situational prose, setting the scene with luscious harmonies and an uplifting, conscious energy.
The opus takes us on a transcendental journey, showcasing masterful instrument performances, dreamy psychedelic vibes and an overarching enlightening experience. Speaking on their sound, the band assertively tell us, “Many bands mention the words ‘psych’ or ‘psychedelic’ but we believe we’re one of the few that actually deliver that sound.”
We learn that the sitar is performed by Lucian Thomas (Farfisa), which has us completely mesmerized, taking on a protagonist role within the composition, fusing cohesively with the bandmates’ presence and Alexandra Rose‘s out of this world vocals.
With reference to their message of the song, the band elaborates, “The mysterious twists and turns of By The River’s narrative seek to highlight the profound nature of love, loss and the human condition, and encourages the listener to reflect on what is truly significant for each of us.”
We connect with the intentional depth that The Crystal Teardrop convey with their artistry, and have added By The River to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate the upcoming James Shuker directed visual, and continue to stream Nine Times Nine!
