Setting the tone with a drone frequency, atmospheric ad libs of the words “yeah yeah” and “word up”, and a textured beat with psychedelic nuances, Killah Trakz opens the Radio Edit of For The Love with intrigue and dimensionality.
The opus expands with the delivery of assertive bars that feel empowering, thought-provoking and authentic. We are captivated by the confidence and self-realized nature of what Killah Trakz, as well as the cohesive tapestry of sound that Es-K provides with instrumental mastery on the beats.
Speaking on the message of the song and how it came about, Killah Trakz confesses, “After losing my brother and my mother, [and] then my labelmates [and] collaborators, watching my fiancé marry someone else… I was in a dark place.”
He adds, “Music was my outlet. I went back to the drawing board and just stuck to my roots.” Elaborating, he says, “The song is about all the personal accolades I have accomplished by being true to myself.”
We love the journey that Killah Trakz takes us on, as well as the cathartic and intentional nature of his creative process. The visionary rapper cites Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, and Sean Price as influences, which we can feel come through in his vibe, but there is no doubt that Killah Trakz is manifesting a path of his own.
