Setting the tone with a vibrant and intricate disco-pop meets groovy-house hybrid energy, Manu Chevalier opens I belong to you with the support of Michael Washington on vocals, as he sings, “Got you into my groove, you bring the magic in the air, I′m in the mood..”
The opus expands with instrumental mastery, dynamic and engaging production, and a magnetic sense of timelessness within the constructs of the lyricism. I belong to you takes us on a familiar journey, cohesively creating a tapestry of sound that references retro elements, with a contemporary mix design. Needless to say, we are in awe.
We appreciate the raw authenticity that is conveyed by Manu Chevalier, as well as Michael Washington‘s timbre, range and pristine performance skill.
Manu Chevalier was born and raised in Marseille, France, and has great experience with the genres of disco, funk and jazz, as well as bossanova, reggae, soul, and pop which we can feel come to life with his composition.
The talented rising producer has had the privilege of being mentored by esteemed songwriters and producers who have achieved multi-platinum success and received Emmy awards. Notable mentors include Shelly Poole from Alisha’s Attic, Paul Statham who has worked with artists like Dido and Kylie Minogue, Morris Pleasure known for his contributions to Earth Wind and Fire and Michael Jackson, and Jeff Franzel who has collaborated with Taylor Dayne and N’SYNC, amongst others.
Manu Chevalier is also a skilled live musician, showcasing his talents as a saxophonist and background vocalist. Last year, he released his debut single Get on the dance floor, and his sophomore single, I belong to you comes with the intention to encourage us to hit the dancefloor once again.
Naturally, we have added I belong to you to our New Music Spotlight playlist whilst we watch the charming and cinematic film noir music video for the song, and continue to stream Get on the dance floor.
