Enticing us with a dimensional, alternative rock soundscape, Jennifer Tefft opens Love and War with a charismatic vocal performance as she sings, “What’s the meaning of this? There’s nothing in our last kiss, to make you think you’re over me….”
We appreciate Jennifer Tefft‘s narrative-driven, philosophical and situational approach to songwriting, as well as the raw emotion that she conveys with reference to the romantic connection at the heart of the opus.
Love and War with dynamism and introspection into “a song about that gnarly space in a relationship between being head over heels in love and wanting to throw some grenades and blow the whole thing up.”
The composition feels relatable, yet demonstrates ingenuity with a stunning and meditative instrumental section which allows us to absorb the message of the song before an anthemic final reprise, which will have you singing along with Jennifer Tefft‘s magnetic hooks.
We learn that Love and War was produced, recorded and mixed by Munk Duane at Bad Stella studio and mastered by Hans Dekline (U2, The Pixies, Lisa Loeb). The track features guitarist John Parrillo, drummer Chris Georgenes and bassist Stephen “Sharky” Beccia.
Tonight sees a show to celebrate the release, with Jennifer Tefft & The Strange at Tangerini’s Farm in Millis, Massachusetts. In the meantime, we have added Love and War to our New Music Spotlight playlist. whilst we continue to stream Jennifer Tefft‘s wider discography including Enemy, and Better Days.
