Setting the tone with a drum stick count in and an immersive, alternative rock guitar soundscape, A/V CLvB open Cellar Door with situational prose and the lyrics, “He flew first class this morning to a beach in San Fran, in his private cabana with his feet in the sand…”
The opus expands with instrumental mastery to take us on a thought-provoking journey about a toxic relationship.
We appreciate the both relatable and unrelatable nature of the prose, and the poetic prowess that A/V CLvB convey with their words, especially for the final bridge. The creators have a strong ability to paint a vibrant picture with their unique brand of storytelling.
They add with reference to the lyricism, “Cellar Door tells the story of a relationship filled with disloyalty, materialism, and deceit, and the toxicity found on both sides.”
The sonic landscape holds a sense of timelessness, with out of this world guitar performances and solos; first an elegant and nuanced pre-bridge and then an extravagant and stadium filling outro solo, in turn creating a super dynamic listening experience that leaves us yearning for more!
We learn that A/V CLvB is comprised of Avery Gordon on vocals and rhythm guitar, Braeden Muir on vocals and lead guitar, Noah Liddy on bass, and Cameron McLaughlin on drums.
Speaking on the inspiration behind Cellar Door‘s creation, the band confess ,”This song was written at a time where Avery was in a deep obsession with Donnie Darko for a week and wanted to make a song titled Cellar Door. The demo originally included audio from the movie, but was taken out in the final version.”
We love what the foursome are creating, and have added Cellar Door to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream A/V CLvB‘s debut single, Feels Like Yesterday.
