We have been intently following the rise of KRISTOPHER, and have featured a slew of his singles to date including Swear to God and Indigo Sky. When we heard that the star was back with Cage With No Key, we were curious, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!
Enticing us with an elegant and atmospheric piano soundscape, KRISTOPHER opens Cage With No Key with emotive prose as he sings, “I never feel as small than in the middle of the night, the world around me falls apart, no matter how hard I try I can never win the fight…”
We are enamoured with the immersive nature of the keys, and the cohesive tapestry of sound it forms with KRISTOPHER‘s transcendental vocal performance. The textured elements of the sound design generate a dimensional energy, bringing to life the rising artist’s poetic core as his emotion builds towards the climax of the opus.
We learn that the overarching narrative of Cage With No Key “journeys into the dark realities of clinical depression, using melody and metaphor to describe the indescribable”, and we deeply appreciate KRISTOPHER for his raw vulnerability.
Speaking on the release, the star confesses, “With Cage With No Key, I try to describe musically what I’ve never been able to effectively describe by words alone.”
He continues, “Like too many others, I struggle with depression, and know how isolating and overwhelming it can be. I hope this song can be a touchstone for those suffering to help feel and remind them that they are not alone, while giving neurotypical people a glimpse into the emotional abyss of depression that is likely impacting someone they know and love.”
We love the intentional nature of what KRISTOPHER has to offer with the track, and have added Cage With No Key to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his growing discography and anticipate future releases from the star.
