Our obsession with Genevieve Sovereign seems to grow with every listen, so when we heard that the star had returned with Midday Blue, we were curious and couldn’t wait to share our experience.
Setting the tone with astral keys and and immersive frequency, with nuanced guitar riffs, Genevieve Sovereign opens Midday Blue with intricate delivery and descriptive prose as she takes us on an adventure with her poetic prowess and connected depth.
There is no doubt that fans of Björk will be able to connect with Midday Blue, we absolutely love the cadence, timbre and the manner in which the artist curtails certain words. The overarching experience feels euphoric as Genevieve Sovereign invites us into her vibrant and picturesque universe.
We learn that the opus is inspired by “growing-up amid majestic rolling forests in northwestern Ontario, Canada and subsequently moving southward to the dusty open expansiveness of Australia.”
Designed to be “soul-soothing”, the composition does just that, and we are lost in the wonderful world that Genevieve Sovereign brings to life.
Naturally, we have added Midday Blue to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Genevieve Sovereign ever expanding discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist.
