We previously featured Jacob Rountree for his luscious, emotive and poetic album, As I See It, and the immersive and cinematic single, Definitions, so when we heard that the star had returned with First Avenue, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back.
Drawing us in with a compressed guitar and vinyl frequency with a brief “hey” ad lib, First Avenue opens with metaphorical and situational prose as Jacob takes us on an evocative journey laced with poetic prowess and intentional depth.
We can always count on Jacob Rountree to share a visionary approach to songwriting, and First Avenue is no exception. There is nuance in his timbre and charisma in his overarching delivery. We appreciate the philosophical nature of what he shares, and the tapestry of sound that accompanies him is flawless.
We learn that the track also features the talented Nina Rosa from LUNAVESÂ on violin, who Jacob first met in 2022 during his time at the Jazz Dock in Prague!
Mid-way though the track, we experience an incredible instrumental segment with the return of the vinyl frequency and compressed nature, this feels magnetic and dimensionally immersive – and we are in awe.
We absolutely love what Jacob Rountree creates, and have added First Avenue to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including his album, As I See It!
