Drawing us in with an immersive, metallic soundscape and textured vocal nuances, SEPH opens Secrets Taste Like You with dimensionality and introspective prose.
The opus evolves with expansive sound design and emotive, pitched vocals to take us on an evocative and charming dream pop meets melodic hyper pop journey.
We learn that Secrets Taste Like You is the first song from SEPH’s upcoming sophomore album, set to be released in 2024. Speaking on the record as a whole, SEPH confesses, “The journey from where I was when I wrote these songs to now is truly something I never thought I could do. I gave too much of myself to someone who could never give anything back. And now standing on the other side of it all is a work of art that I’m so glad will see the light of day. Or, should I say, the Dawn…”
We appreciate the raw and authentic depth that SEPH shares with his lyricism and performance, and the mediative respite before an anthemic rebuild of the soundscape.
SEPH is also known as multi-disciplinary artist Joseph Majka, hailing from Columbus, Ohio. SEPH tells us that he grew up listening to 90s pop stars, and has expanded his inspirations to new artists like Allie X, MARINA, Tove Lo, and Years & Years, which we can feel come through with his sound, although there is no doubt that what SEPH is creating is unique to his own design.
Elaborating on the connection with his art, SEPH says, “Music is therapeutic for me. Writing a song, in some aspects, is like painting a picture. You have a vision for what you want it to look like, it might get messy along the way, and the final product comes out to be something beautiful… no matter what it is.”
We love the message and immersive vibes that SEPH creates, and have added Secrets Taste Like You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream SEPH‘s wider discography, including his debut album Electric Expressions.
