We previously featured Katie Belle for her assertive release, The Best You’ll Ever Have, so when we heard that the rising star was back with Symptoms, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Setting the tone with an plucked guitar soundscape, Katie Bell opens Symptoms with an airy pop vocal as she sings, “When you run your fingers through my hair, and you, get so close you breathe my air, now I kinda wanna start a war, I know, I’ll be coming back for more…”
We immediately connect with the authentic nature of the prose that Katie shares, and the refined and cohesive tapestry of sound that she creates with her minimalist soundscape. The depth of her lyricism feels relatable for anyone who has felt an evocative connection with a lover.
The opus holds a sense of timelessness in message, but modernity in sound design. We learn that the composition was written by Katie herself, along with Fabio Campedelli and Dominique Vellutato, and recorded and produced in Campedelli’s Los Angeles studio.
We cannot get enough of Katie’s raspy vocal, and the charismatic delivery that she shares with her performance. We have added Symptoms to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Katie Bell’s wider discography including The Best You’ll Ever Have, and Next Ex!
