Establishing the mood with a timeless, strummed guitar, Edie Yvonne opens On Your Mind with charismatic vocals and philosophical lyricism, needless to say, we are obsessed.
Fans of Cat Power‘s Werewolf will definitely be able to connect with what Edie is sharing, her range is exquisite and her chord choices evoke emotional depth.
Speaking on the release, Edie confesses, “I wrote On Your Mind after feeling like I couldn’t get through to a loved one. I was questioning how to be close with someone and feel so far away, so disconnected.”
The composition of On Your Mind showcases nothing short of instrumental mastery, and the wisdom and poetic nuance that Edie Yvonne exudes is tangible as she sings, “Across from me, yet worlds away can’t seem to get your heart to stay. …What is on your mind?”
We learn that On Your Mind is written by Edie herself in collaboration with emerging producers Nicky Swedin and Cormac Liotta. On Your Mind has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate Edie Yvonne’s forthcoming single Queen Bee which is set to go hand in hand with her new short film about “mean girls and their minions.”
