Setting the tone with an intricate guitar soundscape, Josh Jensen opens Windbreaks & Waves with nothing less than instrumental mastery, and needless to say we are in awe.
The opus expands with charisma and charm to take us on an evocative journey. We appreciate the emotional depth of the performance, and the meditative middle eight which gives us a momentary respite before a rebuild and full circle finale.
Speaking on the inception of the release, Josh confesses, “Windbreaks & Waves was inspired by sitting on the shoreline of the beautiful Puget Sound. The song was written in an open tuning with the waves breaking nearby and the wind singing ever so gently across the water.”
Josh cites Leo Kottke, D’Gary, and Joe Pass, as well as Cory Wong, Billy Strings, and Tony Rice as some of his influences, which we can feel come to life with Windbreaks & Waves although it is clear that with his technical performance skill, Josh Jensen is creating a universe of his own.
We learn that the star has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and that Windbreaks & Waves was recorded on his phone – this fusion of experience and modern technology makes for a unique offering, and we cannot wait to hear more from Josh.
In the meantime, we have added Windbreaks & Waves to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Josh’s album, Moon Time, which features his top streamed track, Kiss Me Once!
