Drawing us in with an evocative breath and enticing spoken word, NYSZA opens her latest release, When The Purest Magic Breaks, with magnetic prose as she recites, “When the purest magic breaks, what’s left behind is gold, broken down into dust that settle beneath your eyes, only to be washed away by sorrow….”
NYSZA‘s transcendental voice is accompanied by a cosmic and ethereal soundscape featuring classical strings and sound synthesis, further amplifying her wisdom and message. The opus expands with a meditative frequency, as the charisma in NYSZA voice becomes more tangible, and her prose more assertive.
The final section of the composition feels exponentially immersive as NYSZA invites us to “let it go”, inspiring freedom with our souls. Speaking on the spoken word release, NYSZA (pronounced: nice-uh) confesses, “I found myself in limbo, waking up to a stillness that I grew to recognise as transient. I found solace and inspiration in an ordinary speck of dust suspended in the air. Glittering like gold in the sunlight – simultaneously mundane yet magical – that speck of dust helped me navigate the space between grief and transformation.”
We are in awe at what NYSZA is sharing, and the source of her inspiration for the piece. Her innate understanding of the connected nature of reality is profound, and understanding the concept of a conscious universe feels cathartic and allows us to trust the process of life and this reality.
It is no surprise that NYSZA has had her collaborations with Darshaan and 3Four supported on BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing London, BBC AsianNetwork, and YourEDM. The Dehradun-born, London-based artist has also released a visualiser shot in India, and an immersive art installation in conversation with Mercury Prize nominee Dave Okumu to celebrate the release.
Fans Björk, Nitin Sawhney, and vōx might be able to connect with NYSZA, but it is clear that the visionary artist is creating a universe of her own. We have added When The Purest Magic Breaks to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream NYSZA‘s wider discography including Petunia!
