Our obsession with Simesky+Fritch grows with every listen, having featured their debut, Such Imperfection, as well as their vibrant and conceptual sophomore single, Colour Running Away. Once we heard that they had returned with Back and Down Again, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Enticing us with a cerebral synth and experimental percussion elements, Back and Down Again opens with a riser and dimensional nature as Simesky+Fritch share metaphorical prose with a distinctive vocal, which always reminds us of The Cure re-imagined.
The pair deliver poetic depth and emotional intent as they take us on a journey though the human psyche, and we appreciate the more vulnerable nature of the prose shared.
Needless to say, the cohesive tapestry of sound that Simesky+Fritch deliver is nothing short of instrumental mastery, and we are mesmerized by the production and the journey that it takes us on.
When quizzed about their inspirations, the duo frame their artistry with reference to their influences as, “The Cure, Roxy Music, M83, they all leave their imprints like always. And as New Order and Bowie atmospherics infect, each decade’s nuance of synthpop collides.”
The opus comes with a visual featuring Eastern footage and iconic, cinematic shots of actor Bill Murray to help bring to life the message of the song. Naturally, we have added Back and Down Again to our New Music Spotlight playlist whilst we continue to stream Such Imperfection, and Colour Running Away, and anticipate future releases from the stars.
