Teasing us with a narrated ad lib inviting us to, “Dance like there’s no tomorrow…”, Matt Warren opens Flight at the End with a fierce electric guitar soundscape and dramatic astral nuance, before sharing atmospheric vocals with a profound message.
The opus expands with poetic prowess to take us on a journey where our protagonist shares thought-provoking prose and an intentional brand of songwriting that we simply cannot get enough of.
Speaking on the message of Flight at the End, Matt confesses, “This particular song is about conspiracy theories and how they ultimately lead to our demise.”
He continues with reference to his upcoming concept album, Excited To Die, “This is track four on the album, which covers many subjects and shows where your mind can go when you have too much time on your hands.”
Matt elaborates, “I’ve always hated the idea of concept albums so it was strange when this happened. After years of trying to write things that I thought other people might like, I actually wrote, recorded and produced this album in a three-week period and made it something I like, without worrying about anything else. Anytime I hit a wall I kept saying to myself… just do what you want. I wasn’t even thinking about releasing it until I played it to a few people and they said I really needed to.”
We love the direction that Matt is taking his artistry in, and the depth of what he shares with his voice and message. He cites The Beatles, Fountains of Wayne, Eels, Aimee Mann, and Weezer as some of his influences, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own.
