Setting the tone with textured drums, an astral melody and evocative breaths, Vlad in Tears open Hope with intrigue and dimensionality, before a luscious guitar soundscape envelopes us.
We are met with an intricate vocal performance delivering introspective prose, accompanied by nothing short of instrumental mastery from the Berlin-based band.
Naturally, the flow expands for the chorus into a more robust, dark-wave and metal-adjacent energy as they share the hook, “Can’t lose hope…” . We appreciate the overarching sentiment of optimism in their lyricism and the emotional depth that they convey through their words and charismatic performance.
Speaking on the release of Hope, Vlad in Tears confess, “This song and the album itself is a journey through the human soul, at least ours, during these two years of isolation.”
We learn that Vlad in Tears is comprised of three brothers – Chris on vocals, Dario playing bass, and Alessio on guitar – plus session drummers. They tell us, “We do pretty much everything together! We have also a bar in Berlin that we run, and it is like an island for musicians and for rock alternative culture.”
What Vlad in Tears are creating feels authentic and refined, and we have added Hope to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography including the entirety of their album Porpora!
