Establishing the mood with a luscious, acoustic guitar soundscape, Ethan Senger opens Standing Still with intrigue as he shares situational, yet metaphorical prose, “Big ego and a fragile heart, dirt on my name cos of your old scars, I thought distance was the answer, but you still can’t control your temper…”
The opus expands with textured drums, and charismatic depth to take us on an introspective journey through the lived experience of the star, and we are grateful for his authenticity.
The soundscape showcases nothing less than instrumental mastery, and Ethan taps into a sense of timeless nostalgia with his vibe. Needless to say, we are mesmerised.
We learn that Standing Still is the title track from Ethan Senger‘s sophomore EP, and is designed to “explore the soft relatable themes of unresolved emotional wounds from childhood, as well as feigned indifference and the games people play when it comes to cultivating meaningful relationships, and also stagnancy due to fear of failure coupled with the ever increasing worldly distractions of his always-plugged-in generation.”
The emotive nature that the rising artist from Atlanta shares is tangible, and we are moved by his lyricism and poetic prowess. Ethan Senger is a third generation guitarist who first picked up the instrument when he was seven years old.
We have added Standing Still to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Ethan Senger‘s wider discography, including his 2020 self-titled EP, and his 2021 single I’m Fine.
