We first featured Jōviky for the vulnerable and emotive, Proud of Me, so when we saw that the star had returned with the brand new, Locations, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back!
Teasing us with a pulsating beat, Jōviky opens Locations with assertive vocal ad libs and a glistening, astral melodic soundscape as he shares evocative prose, panning from side to side as he invites us to share our location with him.
The opus expands with conceptual lyricism and charming depth, as we are seduced by the star and his intricate, yet dimensional flow. The cohesive tapestry of sound that accompanies Jōviky is elegant and ethereal, whilst his voice is sensual and showcases expansive timbre and range.
Speaking on the subject matter of Locations, the rising artist from Los Angeles confesses, “The track is a hidden lament inspired by a relationship gone awry due to emotional misunderstandings and the trappings of ageism.”
We learn that the jazzy hip-hop production by Yogic Beats is designed to provide “an ample canvas for Jōviky’s introspective and capricious lyrics.”
Jōviky elaborates, “Locations is a birds-eye view of myself wrestling with the loss of trust and love, while at the same time embracing the duality of denial. When the tropes of relationship conditioning get in the way of honest communication, you may find yourself lost and looking for a familiar landmark, a location.” He adds, “That being said, I crafted Locations to feel somewhat uplifting because I’m really trying not to write sad songs anymore.”
We have added Locations to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Jōviky‘s wider discography including Good Dayz, and Safety Box, Pt. 1.
