One of the most visionary artists that we have experienced in recent times just released a brand new single. LearningToDive, aka Bravo Bonez, just dropped Rise, and needless to say, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back!
Enticing us with a cerebral soundscape with astral nuance, Rise expands with a trip-hop hybrid energy and luscious strings, as LearningToDive takes us on a journey with adventurous prose as he delivers the words, “Round the hills I will find my way, through the forest, mud streams and clay, not thinking of much beyond my world, just foot follow foot, focussed on the flow…”
Immediately this reminds us of Faithless, which is a great reference for LearningToDive‘s sound, something that feels quintessentially British, yet progressive and unique.
Speaking on the sentiment of the composition, LearningToDive confesses, “Every life is a journey, and every one is different. Some are smooth, some rough. Though most encounter suffering and sadness. This is one life, a life of harassment, veiled attacks and deceit. But one can never give up and one learns to rise above the noise, whatever the outcome.”
He continues with depth, “Rise evokes a man’s journey through a wilderness of despair, and his unwillingness to give in to negative thoughts, despite the fact that it is unlikely to end in any other way than his eventual death. But that is something that comes to us all in the end.”
Elaborating further, the star says, “Rise starts uneasily, and finishes uneasily, and that is where I wanted to leave the listener…which isolates the choruses for their euphoria…part of the schizophrenic nature of a long period of persecution.”
We are mesmerized by the journey that the artist takes us on, and the instrumental mastery that he demonstrates with his composition. His prose, although not autobiographical in nature, is gripping, and we appreciate the hook of the opus, which feels inspiring and transcendental.
We learn that Rise is written and composed by Bravo Bonez, co-produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Mel C) and Bravo Bonez, engineered and mixed by Clint Murphy (Enter Shikari, 50 Cent), and also features drums by Greg Haver.
Rise has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the growing discography of LearningToDive, and anticipate future releases from the artist!
