Establishing the mood with elegant acoustic guitar soundscape, Happy Curmudgeons open I Know How You Feel with emotive vocals and the evocative prose, “Did you turn your back on something real, that hole in your heart will never heal…”
The opus expands with intentional depth to take us on an introspective journey of love lost. We learn that that the composition is created and performed with two acoustic guitars and a fretless bass. We love this minimalist approach, which allows the message of the song to really stand out.
Speaking on the release, the band confesses, “The song is about love lost, broken relationships and mistakes in the past that can not be undone.”
Singer and instrumentalist Jeff Warner shares his message, whilst Dave Hamilton and Takashi Iio accompany him on this journey! I Know How You Feel is a single from the band’s second album, 2nd Chances, which is set for release later this year! The composition demonstrates instrumental mastery, and we cannot get enough of Jeff’s vocal range and charisma!
The creators cite Doc Watson, Bob Dylan, Robert Hunter, George Harrison, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Richard Thompson, and Jimi Hendrix as influences, which we can feel come through in the composition, although there is no doubt that Happy Curmudgeons are establishing a universe of their own.
We love the depth and emotion that Happy Curmudgeons convey with I Know How You Feel, and we have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography and anticipate the release of their LP later this year!
