Drawing us in with a luscious, astral soundscape, Alison Cohen opens Deep End with ethereal vocals and situational prose as she sings, “Friday night and the lights are low, so many places I could go, but I think I’ll stay in…”
We immediately connect with the relatability of the opus, and the instrumental mastery that accompanies Alison Cohen as she conveys her reality and perspective.
Speaking on the release, the rising star confesses, “I crafted this synth pop track to create a chill atmosphere, perfect for late night drives or watching the sunset at the beach.”
Alison continues with detail with reference to her sound design, “The shimmering floaty synths in Deep End make you feel like you’re swimming in warm water, while the drop delivers a sense of freedom that’s truly liberating.”
Expanding on her role with reference to women in music, Alison says, “As a female producer in an industry where representation is still rare, I’ve poured my heart and soul into writing and producing this track.”
Alison cites EDM artists like San Holo and EMBRZ, pop stars like Taylor Swift and MUNA, and the captivating sounds of 80s new wave music as some of her influences, which we can feel come though in her artistry, although it is clear that she is creating a universe of her own!
We love what Alison Cohen is creating and the intentional nature of her artistry, and have added Deep End to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her wider discography including Neon Girl, and Closer To You.
