Our obsession with Rogue FX is only growing, and we have been fascinated by the rising artist’s latest era, which taps into a vivid, hyperreality construct to take us on an amplified journey.
His latest release is called Two Hearts, and opens with textured percussion and a pounding beat with classic 80s synths evoking an expansive and high octane energy. Speaking on the narrative of the track, Rogue FX confesses, “Lyrically it is a story of boy meets girl and the breakup and ultimate reconciliation of the relationship.”
We learn that the opus is a collaboration with multi award-winning retrowave producer Fonz Tramontano. Both artists come from the North of England, but the track itself has the self-proclaimed “feel of Californian sun and classic John Hughes movie soundtracks.”
Naturally, and in line with Rogue FX‘s wider discography, Two Hearts is an 80s influenced synth pop track, which takes inspiration from OMD to The Psychedelic Furs, but is certainly unique to its own design.
Fonz Tramontano, who is the winner of the “Clouzine International Electronic Music Awards” in 2022, 2021 & 2020, is a producer from Sheffield UK and a Headphone Music Label artist. He fuses retro synth sounds and vocals with modern production techniques to create classic 80s style music. He works from his Mileven Studio and is well known for his successful collaborations with artists worldwide.
Rogue FX is Andrew Wood from the Northeast of England, formerly of the 80s synth pop group Please and the house music outfit Bass Value, who had records released on Reachin’ Records, Three Beat Records and PWL in the 90s. After a 20-year hiatus Andrew started releasing synthwave and retrowave music as Rogue FX influenced by 80s synth pop.
