As fans of Martyn Scott, and having featured his introspective and metaphorical single, Lazy Days and Lullabies, as well as the emotive, Carl Sagan-inspired, Bearable Through Love, we couldn’t wait to listen to I Really Do, and share our thoughts with the world!
Enticing us with a pulsating beat and glistening soundscape, I Really Do opens with a luscious power pop vocal design as Martyn sings, “I’d say that I’m the most terrific liar that you ever saw, if you want to know then I will tell you more…”
We are reminded of how exquisite Martyn Scott‘s sound is, and how the instrumental mastery and vocal design that he shares is simply out of this world. The track also features a stunning guitar solo from Mark Knopfler, which fuses perfectly with Martyn’s 60s influenced sound.
Fans of The Smiths and The Beatles will certainly be able to connect with I Really Do, but what is amazing about Martyn is that his product is created in the present, which allows us to experience the elevation that the music technology of today has to offer.
We learn that Martyn was born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and started playing in working men’s clubs aged seventeen, and progressed to touring up and down the country with bands, one of which got the opportunity to support The Bootleg Beatles at the Echo Arena in Liverpool in front of an audience of 9,000.
We love his sound and energy, and have added I Really Do to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including Bearable Through Love!
