Establishing the mood with ripping and elegant acoustic guitar, James Spencer opens My Hand & My Heart with a distinguished vocal timbre and the lyrics, “Don’t hide from he world, or hide from your heart, life is crazy and life is painful, sometimes your world will fall apart…”
We immediately connect with the emotional wisdom that James shares with his prose, and the authentic depth of his message. The soundscape demonstrates instrumental mastery, and takes us on an evocative journey, whilst holding a timeless energy.
His words are filled with poetic prowess, and we are in awe of the expansive nature of the build of track, and can only imagine how exhilarating it would be to experience James Spencer live!
Speaking on the release, the artist from North Devon in the United Kingdom confesses, “My Hand & My Heart is a folk rock ballad with a Celtic edge. The song contains heartfelt lyrics and mandolin hooks complimented by violin and flute.”
The star elaborates, “Written for a close friend, the song is a plea to those suffering within their own minds to come back to the light. Following the pandemic, the lockdowns and the mental health issues that have arisen from them, I feel that being there for your friends is more important now than ever. That’s what the song is about, It is an emotionally charged ballad about being there for a friend in a dark place.”
We learn that the music video was filmed at a stunning location based in North Devon called Black Church Rock, and the surrounding woodland. It features his friend Eloise who the song was initially written for as the main character lost in the woods.
We love the intention that James creates with, and have added My Hand & My Heart to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate the release of his upcoming album, Lucky Man!
