We have been intently following the rise of Ari Joshua, and his various projects, so when we heard that the visionary artist and composer had released his unique take on a classic by The Grateful Dead, Eyes of the World, we were curious to say the least.
Setting the tone with a textured riser, the opus opens with a bright and dimensional energy with ethereal vocals and situational prose as Ari conveys an introspective nature with us.
As always, the piece showcases intricate production and an inspiring message as we experience the timeless hook, “Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world…”
Vocal harmonies are warm, whilst the overarching intention of the song is tangible. The poetic prowess conveyed from the original feels meaningful, which works perfectly with the exquisite tapestry of sound that the talented composer manifests.
The composition features an instrumental reprise taking on a jazz-hybrid edge, akin to Ari Joshua‘s signature style, and we are lost in the detail oriented construction and emotional depth conveyed. The artwork also reflects this perfectly!
Ari is joined by renowned drummer John Kimock, bassist Andy Hess, and keyboardist Eden Ladin. Speaking on the recording process of the release, Ari comments, “The Bunker Studio, was founded by my classmates Jon Davis and Aaron Nevise, and it holds a special significance for me. I was there when they were just talking about getting it going, and recorded in the very first iterations of it’s existence. This was the first time recording in the big room. Kimock, Hess, and Ladin where a dream to work with, they are some of the best players in the world.””
We love what Ari Joshua shares with his universe, and have added his inspiring version of Eyes of the World to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of the groundbreaking artist.
