Setting the tone with pulsating beats against an ethereal synthscape, Rehya Stevens opens Love Party with empowering prose and intricate dimension.
The opus expands into bold contemporary pop – dance energy, with evocative vocal stylings and sound design. Needless to say, we are in awe. We connect with Rehya’s charisma, depth and personal approach to songwriting. The vocal ad libs are epic, and the production is fierce. Rehya showcases her range and sometimes experimental leanings while delivering a timeless sonic architecture with elements of futurism.
As the star invites us to sail away and join the party, we are enticed into her universe. Themes of self empowerment run through the core of Love Party, and it is abundantly clear that Rehya Stevens creates with intentional depth.
We learn that Rehya Stevens is an award-winning independent artist, and chose to release Love Party in celebration of Pride month and Juneteenth. To bring the track to life, she teamed up with two-time Emmy Award-winning “South Park” composer Jamie Dunlap to co-write and produce her first non-seasonal release in over five years.
Having garnered over 40 sync licenses to date, a #2 Billboard holiday single, and an HMMA award for ‘Best in Holiday,’ Stevens is best known for her all-original Christmas catalog – which grows every year.
Speaking on the release of Love Party, Rehya confesses, “I grew up in a very small town in Northern California that is still quite sheltered to this day.”
She continues, “By no means was I born with a silver spoon in my mouth – and I KNOW what it is to work your butt off just to survive – so I’ve always held a progressive worldview. I spent years carving a career path for myself in Los Angeles – struggling to pay the bills, struggling with issues now known as the #metoo movement – while witnessing the struggles of my colleagues with racial profiling, poverty, nepotism, sexism, and all kinds of discrimination throughout their journeys.”
The star elaborates with reference to the track, “Genre-wise, for me – there’s nothing quite like the dance floor to let your spirit shine. Life is like a dance floor. It’s about releasing frustration and seeing yourself as a badass who is surviving and thriving within a dysfunctional system – and hopefully transforming it. That’s an empowering way to see yourself in the world.”
We love and support the intention that Rehya Stevens creates with, and have added Love Party to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream her catalogue, and anticipate this year’s Christmas release from the visionary artist!
