Reece Noi debuts thought-provoking and emotive poetry collection, When bodies burn in houses built from love

Los Angeles based British-Ghanaian actor, Reece Noi, best known for his roles in Ava Duvernay‘s Netflix series When They See Us, Game of Thrones, and BBC Series Waterloo Road, has just released a highly personal body of thirteen poems, titled When bodies burn in houses built from love.

The zine-style release is centred around the theme of love and features self-referential prose touching upon Reece’s lived experience as a sexual being.

When bodies burn in houses built from love takes us on an evocative and vulnerable yet cathartic journey through the spirit and psyche of the talented rising actor. It is clear that what he is conveying with his words is part of a healing process that allows us to tap in to this and in turn heal in our own way.

Speaking on the release of When bodies burn in houses built from love, Reece Noi confesses, “At the age of 23, I had had a lot of success, but within that I was incredibly lonely, and felt isolated. I realised that in order to be successful, I had relinquished a part of my humanity, which was connection.”

The star continues, “Not only did I stop drinking, I decided that I was going to dedicate the next few years to cultivating love and loving relationships. A few years became ten, and a number of really wonderful relationships later, this poetry is a byproduct of those.”

We love the intention with which Reece Noi shares his art. Reece is performing readings in and around Los Angeles, and can also be currently seen in the most recent season of Disney+’s The Mysterious Benedict Society. The poetry book can be purchased by DMing Reece on Instagram.
