We previously featured the talented Claire Bigley for Embodiment, a powerful piano composition to invoke the feeling of community, and also her duet version of the track with cellist Jami Sieber, so when we heard that the visionary artist had just released, Immersion, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Drawing us in with an emotive piano performance, Immersion opens with a sense of intrigue and features a cosmic and dimensional synthscape that truly adds and expansive value to the opus.
Claire Bigley creates a naturally immersive and cohesive tapestry of sound with the cinematic composition, and we can imaging Immersion in a number of Hollywood blockbuster scenarios.
Speaking on the release, Claire confesses, “This track is especially dear to me. Recorded during a time of great stress and intensity, I was compelled to play and create a song that musically communicated all the different and sometimes conflicting emotions I was feeling and forced to experience.”
The star continues, “[Immersion] musically weaves a dialogue between a certain grace and consistent strength of character/humanity with the ever expanding and sometimes chaotic interplay of life that can suddenly appear and just as quickly disappear. As is so often the case, by the end of Immersion I feel calmed and nourished. My hope is this track will soothe and support all who listen.”
Claire cites Olufur Arnalds and Nils Frahm as influences, as well as Chopin, Debussy, Mahler, and Barber, which we can feel come through in her sound, although there is no doubt that what she is creating is unique to her own design.
We always appreciate the intention that Claire Bigley composes with, and we have added Immersion to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her wider discography including Embodiment, and Solitude.
