Setting the tone with a dimensional and immersive blues meets classic rock hybrid energy, Carsten Schnell opens I Have Been Waiting with atmospheric, charismatic vocals, and the statement, “I have been waiting, so very long…”
The opus expands with poetic nuance to take us on a personal journey with a timeless nature, showcasing instrumental mastery and a nostalgic soundscape that we cannot get enough of. We connect with the early Chicago Blues vision for I Have Been Waiting, as we note that the composition features only guitars, piano, bass, drums and vocals. The journey that Carsten Schnell takes us on is evocative, and intricate, and we can only imagine how incredible this would be to experience live.
Fans of Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker will be able to connect with I Have Been Waiting, although it is clear that Carsten Schnell is creating an imprint of his own.
We learn that Carsten Schnell is a classically trained composer who released his debut album Adjust in 1992. Over the years, he experimented with various different sounds. He then retired from music and only wrote minor compositions for theater and entertainment, but has been deeply involved with the blues since its inception.
In 2021 he released the single Why Do You Lie to Me?, which combines electronic music with the feeling of “Slow Blues” in the style of BB King or Gary BB Coleman.
We appreciate the sonic journey that Carsten Schnell is on, and are mesmerized by I Have Been Waiting, which we have added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we watch the thought-provoking music video and continue to stream the talented star’s wider discography, including Dream Break, Another Day Another Dollar, and of course, Why Do You Lie to Me?
